Our house has no loft, attic or garage space, nor do we have any under the stairs or cubbyhole hiding spots... each year it gets harder and harder to find any hiding spots for Christmas gifts; With Badger only getting better at locating, and Bam Bam having reached that "into everything" phase, this year has been a challenge to find hiding spots.
Here are the (so far) successful places, for us:
Kitchen Gadget Boxes.
Those food processor, coffee machine, toaster and microwave boxes Daddy Badger has been hoarding have found a purpose at last! Many of these are pretty roomy too, which has been one of the hardest parts for me with their presents being quite large. After putting them into the boxes, they have then gone on top of the kitchen cupboards, in the very back of them and under the sink where the cleaning products go - nobody else gonna go in there, right?
This is a bit of a cheat one, thought I think most wont have the same problem that I do: The suitcases have been stuffed with presents and then transported to my mum's house and hidden in her wardrobes. Most people would be able to hide them in their own wardrobe, but the problem with that is Badger's teeny suitcase/luggage addiction... he fills them, carries them, tips them, sits in them, zips himself up in them, takes them, leaves them, have to go pick up them. Aunty Mim is "borrowing them for her holiday" ~ This is acceptable.
I have hidden Daddy Badger's presents in here, they are quite small boxes and I am 100% certain that he just wont go near the laundry basket - if he did, I would give him the presents: CONGRATS! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!
All the heels I have on top of the wardrobe and under the bed are perfect for hiding little jewellery boxes for the female members of the family, and my boots are currently housing a bunch of moshi monster moshlings for Badger's stocking. Other ideas: Matchbox cars, rattles, small books.
Underneath the knife and fork tray in one drawer is a number of magazines, colouring books, Elmo books... then crayons, chalk, moshi eggs and Fisher Price Wheelies wrapped in carrier bags and stuffed in around the sides and the back as best as possible.
Under the Bed ~ The Kids' Beds!
Somebody suggested this to me when i was asking where to hide things, they had done it with their daughter. I was very unsure and haven't risked hiding anything which would be a disaster if found; However, I have hidden two shoe-boxes full of neice and nephew gifts under there and all the wrapping paper... so far, untouched.
I have had a number of unsuccessful places though, in the airing cupboard and at the back of the sideboard. Thankfully they weren't Badger's gifts!
A couple of other ideas: car, shed, garage, work... Dig a giant hole in the ground and cover it up with some tarpaulin and leaves?
