Merry Christmas! This post is my entry into the Argos/Tots100 12 days of Christmas Competition:-
They burst through our wrapped up door frame and into the lounge which will have been transformed into the Winter Wonderland we are going for this year: Balloons, Snow, Santa's glittery footprints just waiting to be spotted and admired, followed by the obligatory checking how much of the carrot Rudolph ate or whether Santa enjoyed his sherry. (My Santa likes sherry!) A magnificient Gingerbread, Chocolate and Cake breakfast spread all laid out on the sideboard ready to be unconvered and devoured over the morning alongside cups of hot chocolate to help wash it down.
Unlike most households on a Christmas morning, urging the children to take a little more time, we (Mama and Daddy) will be the ones tapping fingers and rocking with impatience, urging Badger to "put that little Kinder Egg toy down" and open "this one..." Come on, Badger... "Try THIS one..." Eventually, we will get there. Of course, knowing my two boys, there will be a few attempts of pinching presents ~ Baby/toddler toys are a sensory treat, so of course Badger will be drawn to this; Older boy's toys are a choking hazard, so Bam Bam the dangereux will be close behind, ready to pounce!
A mystery game, with clues pointing to the next clue and the next clue and the next... leading the boys to a secret hiding place where a treasure trove of joint toys are buried - waiting to be found and unwrapped.
Mama and Daddy have a little exchange of their own, another hot chocolate and maybe even a kiss under the mistletoe before heading to get dressed while the troublesome twosome have a little playtime.
Open fly the doors and the home is filled with more well wishes, laughs, hugs and happiness as family have descended and the day is well on it's way. Food, wine, TV specials, games and maybe even a carol - though for Mama to partake, a glass of prosecco is required. Really, Mama shouldn't put anyone's poor ears through that.
Armed with new soft toys, dressed in new PJs and taking a few beloved new toys with them: It's time to sleep. Boxing day will soon be here and we are to have another warm and wonderful day.
