This is a review of what I think is the perfect gift for a chocolate lover - Hotel Chocolat's Christmas Goody Bag. Doing this was a dream come true for me - I love chocolate, no: I LOVE chocolate. I practically live off the stuff during December.
With help from the kids and two friends, I have demolished the contents of the goody bag now, but we went out to our nearest Hotel Chocolat this weekend and bought another goody bag for my Grandparents and some stocking fillers for the kids.
I'll start by saying: "Look how it arrived!" I am a little bit obsessed with packaging. Nice packaging makes me smile. It came in a branded box, packing peanuts to protect the absolutely gorgeous bag packaging... monochrome, ribbon, embossed logo... ah, I loved it before I even smelled the chocolate.
Two years ago, before Bam Bam was here, we were at my lovely mother in law's watching her dance to Michael Jackson on the Wii game "Just Dance" at 9 in the morning... so much fun and happiness, a really memorable day. Little did we know, that would be the last one we had with her. Last Christmas, the pain was still raw from saying goodbye just a few days before. This year, I am determined to make this season as perfect as possible. That means enjoying the whole build up, all the festivities and rejoycing at the life and soul of our lovely Mum and Nannie L. Just wanted to shout out to you, Irene.
Merry Christmas! This post is my entry into the Argos/Tots100 12 days of Christmas Competition:-
Hiding Places: Keeping Presents Hidden From A Child Who Makes It Their Life Mission To Know Exactly Where Everything In The House Is...
So, I have been struggling to know what packs to post or create for you to download when there is sooooo much that I know would help, but so much of that really is too specific to share a generic pack. Anyway, as you may have guessed, I have been trying to boost the blog itself and that has been taking up some time... researching. I have now come to the conclusion - especially now that Bam Bam is such a big part of Badger's life and fun - that sharing our normal lives a little more with real pictures may be the best start... particularly the parts of our lives which require a lot of prep, maybe go a wee bit awry because of ASD, use visuals, promote speech, learning to understand and relate to emotions and sensory integration.
As Christmas is coming, and we are getting in full swing now, I thought that this month would be a wonderful start point as so much is going to be going on, and we have lots and lots and lots of crafts and baking to do, which is always a success in developing new vocabulary and encouraging sensory exploration.
We will also be having a lot of fun redecorating, clearing and sorting the house out ready for the big jolly man... now, Badger adores Christmas but he finds this all very tricky to deal with; Lots of change, disruption and having to part with the broken old friends.
Plenty to cover I think, and I am just compiling a list of the advent activities we will be enjoying right now. See you in December for plenty of learning and fun and fresh ideas.
