So much has happened over recent months. It would have been a good idea to record it all, but quite simply, there hasn't been the time.
In short, we - more specifically Badger, experienced:
*The birth of a first sibling
*The first loss of a loved one
*The start of a new, special, school
I don't quite know how we made it through the last twelve months and I will go into more specific details on each topic, how it affected us and how Badger handled everything that came along and smacked him in the face.
But, first and foremost - as I do like to concentrate on the positives as much as possible - I have good news. In that Badger's speech has come on astoundingly well and we are barely using visual supports for communicating. When I say this, I can't say that we are holding conversations - just that he is a lot clearer (to me anyway) and he is able to answer questions more specifically. I am still waiting for the day that he can convey his thoughts to me, but I live in hope that the day will come.
We are using, which has been the biggest impact on Badger's life since PECS, a standard yearly calendar and outlining important dates, school holidays, trips and expectations - he is, however, known to "scrib" anything he does not like the idea of out.
Due to all of the changes that we've gone through, the progression and the regression, and the appearance of some "traits" of Autism I had hoped we'd never see, I am currently considering a new blog, new destination... Our lives have changed so much, I am questioning how relevant this site is to us now. I will, of course, keep it up and post any visual aids/games/resources that I do find or create but a
